Facility Services? Cleaning and sealing of skylights at a 10 meter height
Colonial, owner of one of the seven largest office buildings in Madrid, which currently houses IBM Spain’s regional headquarters, once again relies on FLULLE Facility Services for cleaning and sealing of its large skylight.
Safely bringing a space back to life
The planning phases, security measures and coordination with activities in the rest of the mammoth building were fundamental for the safe evolution and supervision of these tasks at great heights.
A lifeline was installed to ensure the safety of the workers, as per the Occupational Risk Prevention regulations for work at height, since all of these works were carried out from an exterior gondola. From the gondola, we ready the area of activity, performing a thorough cleaning of the outer face of the glass facade and eliminating dust, dirt, contamination and adhered impurities by applying water mixed with a biodegradable ammonia-based detergent. Subsequently, it was dried with a scraper.

Once the whole surface refurbished and the entire area of activity was reviewed, we proceeded to sealing and waterproofing joints between glass and metal carpentry using Sikaflex 11 FC polyurethane injection (standard UNE 53.622-89 with permanent elastic modulus and accelerated polymerization, gray color gamut) Once the action was completed, the lifeline and the horizontal fall arrest line were removed.
