The Villa Magna Hotel reminisces its glorious past in many details of classic elegance. In the past century, the Anglada Palace opened its doors to the Paseo de la Castellana, which is where this modern and comfortable building stands today. With Moorish airs, it was built around a patio inspired by that of the Lions of the Alhambra, in Granada, whose restorer was the architect behind this replica. Works of art, marble and the most exquisite fabrics were aplenty. The chronicles of the time set forth the building’s harmony and delicacy, as well as the lavish parties taking place in its gardens. The beauty of that palace did not save it from being demolished in the 1960s. Luckily, a businessman dreamed of building a grand hotel on the same estate that would also amaze everyone with its refinement and in time would become what it is now: a hallmark of the most luxurious hotels in Madrid. That project would again become the meeting place for upper society, as well as a flagship business center. Its inauguration took place in May 1972. Its guests soon realized that it was not just any hotel: it had become “their home in Madrid”.
The project and execution of the works
After being purchased by the Rosewood Hotels and Resorts group, it closed its doors in 2020 to undergo both outside (facade, entrance and gardens) and inside (rooms, common spaces and restaurants) major remodeling works, involving different studios employing national and international professionals, and that has opted for continuity with the spirit of the original Villa Magna Hotel.
Our client, EMPTY, was selected as main contractors to carry out the ground floor remodeling, from the reception to the different restoration areas such as: Las Brasas de Castellana, The Amós Restaurant with its large garden terrace, Tarde, O, and Flor y Nata.
FLULLE has been in charge of fulfilling all the installations, including electrical, Signify lighting control, fire detection and protection, special (voice/data, public address system, CCTV, CCAA), audiovisual, mechanical, plumbing and sanitation, and natural gas for kitchen stoves.
A very thorough contract, within time constraints and with magnificent results, a project that we will always remember.
